July is one of my favourite months, everyone is in the holiday mood and relaxed and for me it is an opportunity to stop and reflect with a nice cold glass of wine on how things are going with work and any changes I want to make. This month is extra special because July is also our anniversary month (Career Circus was founded 1 July 2012). We have been celebrating in style with anniversary parties in Colchester, London and Ipswich to celebrate 2 years of Career Circus and one year of the #YPNetwork.
In some respects two years has flown by but there have also been some slow patches and moments where I have thought “what am I doing?!” A rollercoaster of emotion best describes it – lots of highs and then surprising dips followed by another sharp high….Difficult to keep track and keep momentum when everything is so uncertain. However, now we are getting in to our stride and I am bursting with excitement on how far we have expanded in the last couple of months. In September we will be a team of 15 and will have our own office space ‘The Basecamp’ in the heart of sunny Ipswich to host our workshops and career appointments. This month we have also launched our brand new website which we have carefully and meticulously designed to work best for you – and we hope you love it just as much as we do ☺
None of this could have been done without the support of our friends, family, colleagues, clients and partners and I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all. Our summer celebration parties also gave us the opportunity to say thank you and give something back (#PartyBags, Cocktails, Cake and fabulous Circus Entertainment). Over the last two years Career Circus has supported a whole range of people with their career next steps or with emotional difficulties at work. I have personally coached international executives supporting them with multi-million dollar career moves and then the next day delivered an Employability workshop in a primary school. We certainly like to keep on our toes and do all we can to help people find a career they will love – whatever age, nationality and industry. I’ve included a quick tot up of numbers below which demonstrates what a small social enterprise can achieve when you have a great hard working team and do what you love for a living:
- Delivered bespoke workshops, presentations and one2one career consultations to over 500 people, helping them to move their career forward in the direction they want.
- We have a rapidly growing #YPNetwork of young professionals that we are supporting with free career interventions (masterclasses, toolkits and webinars etc) with 300 members and counting across our groups in London, Colchester and Ipswich and our international online YP’s in our LinkedIn and Facebook groups. - Our community on social media also continues to grow with over 1.4k people following us on our social media channels.
In the next year (2014/15) we aim to double our reach and support with an expanding team and new office base. We will also be taking on trainee Career Ringmasters and looking for more partnership contracts so that we can build on our relationships and collaborate on initiatives to improve the Talent outlook.
